Sunless Tanning
Why spray tan over sun bathing or UV beds?
I am always reminding my clients to stay out of the sun and to wear an SPF at all times. Why?

The damaging effects of the sun is known to be 90% of the reason our skin ages... (I know, its crazy!) The harmful effects of UV radiation can cause deterioration of proteins in the skin and lead to pre-mature aging, pigmentation, and other more serious skin diseases.

However, I know how great it feels to have that gorgeous, confidence boosting tan. This is why I wanted to provide my clients with a safe and sunless solution to get a beautiful glow and rich tan without putting skin health at risk.

I am so excited to provide my clients with affordable, customizable, safe, air brushed tans. Trust me, you will love this sunless tan far more than the harsh tan lines and sun burns that are caused by traditional tanning. Plus, your skin will thank you tremendously in the future!

x Shave or wax and exfoliate the skin at least 24 hours prior to the appointment. It’s important to allow the amino acids to reconstruct as DHA needs amino acids to develop. Also, the pores need time to close before applying the solution. Otherwise, the cosmetic bronzer can get soak into the pores.(If you need to shower before the appointment, try to do it at least 3 hrs prior and rinse only).

x Exfoliate 2-4 times using a tan safe exfoliant. Avoid oil based exfoliants, gels, shaving creams. These could leave residue on the skin and deny the solution from developing properly.

x Come to appointment completely free of lotions, makeups, perfumes, and even deodorant.

x Moisturize the skin adequately days prior to the appointment. (Example: If your appointment is on a Friday, adequately moisturize the body on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and them Thursday do your exfoliation and skip moisturizer as to not leave any barriers on the skin for Fridays appointment.)

x Undergarments, disposables, or a bathing suit can be worn if that is what is most comfortable for application. Please bring a change of baggy dark clothing to wear after the appointment.
x Wait 8 to 12 hours or 1 to 5 hours before
showering, depending on the solution. This is the period of time required for the development of the spray tanning solutions.

x Avoid activities that provoke sweating or any contact with liquid during the development period. If it's raining or snowing outside, wear long and covering clothes.

x Do not apply makeup or cream during development period.

x If the session takes place in the evening, go to bed wearing long clothes.

x Rinse the whole body and face thoroughly to prevent the cosmetic bronzer (temporary layer) from leaking afterwards. Rinse until the water is clear. For the first shower, it is recommended to not use any soap.

x Once tan has developed, use tan safe lotions to hydrate and prolong the life of the tan. (I carry all of my favourites that you can check out when you come for the appointment).

x Sweating excessively while sleeping or spending time in jacuzzis or saunas, taking long baths or showers on a daily basis, participating in activities that may cause excessive sweating can cause may cause the product to fade away faster.

x Exfoliation of the skin will cause the tan to fade faster, this includes shaving and waxing so it is important to be delicate with the skin. Shaving can be done occasionally-tip: use conditioner instead of shaving cream to avoid the tan being stripped.

x It is necessary to exfoliate the skin once the tan starts to fade to remove old tan residue.

x Avoid lotions, soaps and body washes made with mineral oils, petroleum and alcohol. These ingredients can affect the result and cause a faster fading.
Important note:

* Exfoliation is the MOST important tip to follow in order to achieve an optimal result that will lasts up to 10 days. The use of a simple exfoliating soap doesn’t suffice. A good scrub will allow the elimination of all the dead skin cells and impurities from the body. Pay attention to rough areas like the top of the feet, heels, ankles, elbows, armpits, knuckles, collarbones, etc.
If the exfoliation hasn’t been done properly, the result and/or the fading could be uneven, and the result could disappear prematurely and/or in the form of blots. The products I carry have been designed to fade gradually and evenly, when the skin is properly exfoliated. On the contrary, the dead skin cells will be eliminated naturally and leave white spots on the tan.
